Trondhjemitt er i slekt med granitt, men inneholder mye mer av mineralet kvarts. Derfor blir denne bergarten både lys og hard.
Hardheten gjør at den er godt egnet til veibygging og fyllmasse. Steinbruddet til Blomdal Maskin på Kvelifjellet er hovedsaklig Tronhjemitt.
Gangstiene her i parken er av Tronhjemitt.
Den store steinen øverst i parken er også Tronhjemitt, men hvordan den havnet akkurat der, står det om på skiltet ved den steinen. Det var ikke gjort over natta.
Trondhjemitt har fått navnet sitt fra byen, fordi det forekommer relativt mye av den sør i Trøndelag.
Trondhjemite is related to granite, but contains much more of the mineral quartz. Therefore, this rock becomes both light and hard.
The hardness makes it well suited for road construction and filling mass. The big quarry along the road to Kvelia is mainly Tronhjemitt.
The footpaths here in the geology park are made by Tronhjemitt.
The large stone at the top of this park is also Tronhjemitt. How it ended up right there, you can read about on the sign by that stone. It was not done in one day!
Trondhjemitt has its name from the town Trondheim, because it occurs relatively much of it south in Trøndelag.
