Gabbro er en veldig dyp dypbergart som kommer nesten fra jordas indre. Der lå den og kokte lenge før det ble kjøligere rundt den og den størknet. Det finnes mange typer i gabbrofamilien, og de kan inneholde mange ulike mineraler. Men felles for dem er et ganske høyt innhold av mineralet amfibol, som gir den mørke fargen.
Denne gabbroen kommer fra Grong. Heimdalshaugen, Grongs høyeste fjell, består av mye gabbro.
Gabbro is a very deep rock that comes from the inner part of the earth. In there it boiled for a long time before it got cooler around it and it solidified. There are many types in the gabbro family, and they can contain many different minerals. But common to them is a fairly high content of the mineral amphibole, which gives it its dark color.
This gabbro comes from Grong. Heimdalshaugen, Grong’s highest mountain, consists of a lot of gabbro.
